How to create recovery media/drive for MSFT Windows OS


Note: This will erase all data on the drive. Limited to FAT32 file size (32GB). It's recommended to use a USB flash drive with at least 16GB of storage space.

How to Create a Recovery drive using Microsoft built-in tools:

Press the Windows logo key on the keyboard,

Type Recovery Drive

Click Recovery Drive or Press the Enter key on the keyboard,

Click Yes on the User Account Control (UAC) dialogue box,

Place a check mark next to Backup up system files to the recovery drive,

Follow the onscreen instructions.

Note: This will erase all data on the drive.

How to access Windows Recovery Environment

Login Screen:

Press and Hold the Shift key on the keyboard,

Click the power icon,

Click Restart,

Release the Shift key on the keyboard,

Note: May take a few minutes, depending upon System setup.

Start Menu:

Click Windows logo icon located lower left corner,

Click Settings (gear icon),

Click Update & security,

Click Recovery,

under Advanced Startup, Click Restart now.

Using Recovery Media

Use a hardware recovery button (or button combination) configured by the OEM.
