How to view the version of Windows Operating System

Start Menu:

Press and release the Windows logo key on the keyboard,

Click the profile icon,

Click Change account settings,

Click the search bar,

Type about

Click About your PC

To close, Click the X in upper right corner.

Microsoft Search bar near Start Menu:

Press and release the Windows logo key on the keyboard,

Type winver

Press and release the Enter key on the keyboard or Click Ok,

A dialogue box or popup window will appear on the screen with the Windows version, build, common name/phrase/identifier, etc..

To close, Click Ok or Press the Enter key on the keyboard or click X located in the upper right corner.

Run Command-line:

Press and hold the Windows logo key on the keyboard,

Press the R key on the keyboard and release both keys on the keyboard,

Type winver

Press the Enter key on the keyboard or Click Ok,

A dialogue box or popup window will appear on the screen with the Windows version, build, common name/phrase/identifier, etc..

To close, Click Ok or Press the Enter key on the keyboard or click X located upper right corner.

Other methods using Power Shell and Command Prompt (aka command-line):

Command Prompt

systeminfo /fo csv | ConvertFrom-Csv | select OS*, System*, Hotfix* | Format-List

Command Prompt

Press the Windows logo key on the keyboard,

Type cmd

Click Command Prompt or Press the Enter key on the keyboard,

Type

Reg Query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" /v ReleaseId

Press the Enter key on the keyboard,

To close Command Prompt,

type exit and Press the Enter key on the keyboard or click X located upper right corner.
